Sitting at the base of the Canadian Rockies, Calgary hosted the world for the 1988 Winter Olympics. Twenty-five years later, the city is still reaping the benefits of the growth in and around the city. It is a home base for winter sports lovers, hikers, and outdoors enthusiasts, but has also grown to house neighborhoods that residents find safe, affordable, easy to get to and get around, and friendly. When looking for houses or apartments for rent in Calgary, there are plenty of choices available.

The better neighborhoods in the area will provide beautiful views and panoramas from the houses for rent in Calgary. The Mahogany, Cougar Ridge, and Auburn Bay neighborhoods all can boast of these lovely views. The condos and houses that are within these neighborhoods give residents beautiful views of lakes and mountains as well as the downtown Calgary skyline. While they are not in the downtown hub of the city, they are also still near attractions (the Calgary Zoo, Calgary Olympic Park, Heritage Park, etc.) that will interest singles, couples, and families alike. The neighborhoods are quite affordable with a smaller feel, since they are a bit out of the downtown hub, but still accessible enough to downtown for either commuting needs or day trips into the urban core. The prices of houses for rent will be much, much less in these neighborhoods than they will in downtown.

Closer in town, the Walden community is a new development that is attracting many individuals to look for Calgary apartments for rent. The area was designed to fit into the town as a walkable, multimodal community that can house mixed-use retail, apartments and condos. The area is only a few years old, but is becoming more and more popular as there is a focus on rebuilding smaller communities nestled within the city itself, rather than outside it.
